Holosonics Brings Directional Sound to Consumers With Audio Spotlight at the 2016 CES
Continuing to improve on the commercial success of the Audio Spotlight® sound system, Holosonics has announced that its next-generation laser-like sound system, with improved performance and lower cost, is now actively in production. Designed with consumer applications and practicality in mind, these new systems are being demonstrated at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where Holosonics will be exhibiting in the exciting Eureka Park section at the Sands, booth #81046.
The Audio Spotlight, invented by Holosonics founder Dr. F. Joseph Pompei while a graduate student at MIT, uses ultrasonic energy to create extremely narrow beams of sound that behave like beams of light. By "shining" the sound to one location, specific listeners can be targeted with sound - without others nearby hearing it. This degree of sonic control, unmatched by any other sound system in the world, permits a wide range of new audio applications – from retail and museum displays to personal television viewing. In 2003, Pompei was awarded a "Top Young Innovator" award from Technology Review Magazine for his achievements.
"In recognizing our steadily growing markets and manufacturing capacity, we've redesigned the system to be more easily manufactured at a high scale – and at a lower cost. The technology is now even more accessible to consumers, with our fully integrated speaker designs. Our Audio Spotlight speakers are truly an all-in-one, plug-and-play, point-and-shoot solution for those interested in selectively adding sound in their homes" said Pompei.
Whether for taking the mute off split screen television so a couple can curl up on the couch together to watch two completely different shows, or for limiting those action movie explosions to the arm chair and not the kitchen island, Audio Spotlight speakers afford everyone their own personal taste without having to retreat to separate rooms in the house. Audio Spotlight speakers can also be used to enjoy TV or music in bed, without impeding on a spouse's ability to slumber soundly right next to you, or for increasing the listening level for the hard of hearing at a particular seat, without drowning everyone else out in the rest of the room.
Dr. Pompei and his staff will demonstrate the Audio Spotlight technology in CES booth #81046 at Eureka Park, Tech West, Sands Expo, Level 1, from January 6th through 9th. All scanned attendees will receive a special offer!
